Welcome to my site, I Am WEC – Random Rants by a Random Teenager.  This is a site deticated to ranting about random stuff.  I will try to post a new one at least every other so check back often!  Who knows?  You may be able to relate to a rant so leave your comments to rant!

When you comment, don’t worry about ranting (although no spamming)!  This site can be kinda fun, once you (and I) get into it!  Enjoy!

Too Close a Call

June 20, 2009

It’s me, with my first post in a while…

Okay, I was on an all nighter with our church youth group. We were having fun, playing man hunt, me getting bit by a huge dog (It hurt, but it’s not the good part of the story), watching a kid get hurt non stop, like running into a thorn bush, falling in a hole, hitting his head on a log, etc., and setting on top of a hill, with tall trees around us, in metal chairs, all during a lightning storm and tornado watch. Smart, right? Yeah, that’s what we thought. We were playing “Would you rather…” around 4:15 this morning and most of them revolved around “would you rather get struck by lightning or…” and “would you ranter get ripped up by a tornado or…” so this next part is kind of ironic, also considering that all the lightning wasn’t close to us except this one. We were playing and all of a sudden “Would you rather WWWAAAAAPPPPPOOOOOWWWWWCCCRRAACCKK!!!!!” A lightning strike shot down. It knocked all 10 of us down out of our chairs and onto the ground. We were in a bright light and all you could see was white. When it was done, I was disoriented and actually just started looking around confused. Our youth pastor yelled at us to get inside so we did. We were all shaking half to death. He went out to investigate and found that the lightning hit a tree that was probably 50 feet away at the most. I can be sure that God was watching out for us this morning. The tree had a big stripe right down the middle of it. It had charred bark all the way down it. That was the coolest and scariest moment in my life so far, the lightning strike.

Okay, I  know that I haven’t posted in just about FOREVER and a half and I know that I am sorry.  I have been EXTREMELY busy working on my other site, http://willtech.co.cc/, getting it ready for state competition.  I have also gotten into some chat rooms on the internet and they can be fun sometimes.  Hopefully, my site is finished now and I am going to work on some things for this site soon.  Thanks for being patient!

April Fool’s Day

April 1, 2009

April fool’s day is fun! I usually am not good at making jokes and such, but it can be fun if I get a good one, but things can get boring if you tell it over-and-over again. My brother’s birthday is April 2nd, the day after April fool’s day, and we notice that he is an April fool! He can be really dumb and idiotic sometimes, but mainly he is just hard-headed. I get jokes pulled on me all the time during April fool’s day, but they don’t bother me. They are usually funny and something that I can relate to and retell.

In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a new calendar (the Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new calendar called for New Year’s Day to be celebrated Jan. 1. That year, France adopted the reformed calendar and shifted New Year’s day to Jan. 1. According to a popular explanation, many people either refused to accept the new date, or did not learn about it, and continued to celebrate New Year’s Day on April 1. Other people began to make fun of these traditionalists, sending them on “fool’s errands” or trying to trick them into believing something false.  (Excerpt from here.)

April Fools!

Technology Customer Support

March 27, 2009

Have you ever noticed that technology support basically SUCKS? I called DELL up the other day to see if an option was available for my computer or not. They said, “No” and I went on my way. Tired of getting wrong answers from them, I went ahead and tried the option anyway and lo-and-behold, it worked fine. This has happened 3 times with DELL online chat support. I called and asked if my computer (A rather dated DELL Dimension 2400) could support Wake On LAN. They said no, that the option in my BIOS had been disabled, but I went right into my BIOS, changed the setting, and can now turn my PC on remotely. Another time was when I needed a new power supply for my computer. They said that it would only support a 250 WATT power supply, yet there is a 300 WATT (Soon 420 WATT) supply in it right now. One last time was that they said that my PC doesn’t support booting from a USB stick. I can… Oh, well. I still use them to get their opinion on subjects, then when they are wrong, I send a very negative submission form back to them about how they are complete idiots.

Now for Microsoft, which isn’t that bad.  (Check this link out)  I have Zoo Tycoon 2: Zookeeper Collection and I got a scratch in it accidentally. I called them up and they sent me a BRAND NEW OEM copy of the game for FREE! That was good. Then, Saturday, my wireless keyboard/mouse combo died on me, after about two years, and I called them up and told them my symptoms, and they declared it defective, so they sent me a new wireless keyboard/mouse combo for, again, FREE, including shipping! This is good and fun, but the thing is that Microsoft, not only letting us decipher Indian speak, has absolutely no help whatsoever in their support field. They think that sending a new item, even after the warranty is up, will fix all problems. This, in retrospect, isn’t all that bad because if something dies after it’s normal life span, you can still get another one for free! You can only do this type of thing once, though, per product because they track it by product ID, but you can try it again with the new product ID from the new product, but I don’t recommend it because that is basically stealing.

So, in conclusion, if you have to deal with the technology jokers, be sure to try and get something out of it! I got my gloating privaleges to DELL’s idiotic staff, and a wireless desktop and Zoo Tycoon 2: Zookeeper Collection from Microsoft.

Global Warming

March 25, 2009

GLOBAL WARMING IS A MYTH!  It is a cycle!  I’m tired of people saying “Oh, were going to burn up!  We need to fix the Ozone!” and such.  It is annoying!  If you look at weather patterns in the past, they were experiencing the same thing we are now.  60 degree temperatures in December and three feet of snow!  My grandpa said that they were worried about global warming when he was a kid, and then Dad said that they were worried about global cooling when he was a kid.  Now were back to global warming!  PEOPLE, OPEN YOUR EYES!  It’s right in front of your face!  Yeah, I know that we are putting tons of carbon emissions into the air and it is affecting the atmosphere with the hole in the Ozone over Antarctica and such, but really!  We stopped using CFCs so it should shrink!  In 500 million years the sun is going to get too hot for life to survive anyway, so why wait now! 🙂 I don’t know what else to say…  Oh, well.
